Your Success is Our Success

Village Based Courses

Yup’ik language, computer, business, general university requirements and other college courses can be offered in your village!

Are you interested in a course not listed in the fall and spring Schedule of Courses offered through KuC-CRCD (College of Rural and Community Development)?  We are happy to assist with village based instruction taught by a local adjunct within the 46 villages of our Yukon-Kuskokwim Service Area.  Our portable computer lab makes it possible to offer computer and technology related courses.

Criteria to consider:

· Classes subsidized by KuC require 10 or more people (guaranteed to register).

· Courses for college credit meet at least 14 hours per credit hour.  Class hours cannot be compressed into less than three days per credit.

· Please allow six weeks for most requests.

· Approval of local adjunct (part-time faculty) including the course outline is required before the course can be advertised within your community.

· If KuC traveling faculty is used the requesting organization will cover the costs associated for travel.

· Academic Service Agreements (ASA) may be required by participating organizations, costs per a negotiated agreement.

· For agency sponsored courses, tuition is not charged and the organization pays for instructor and all associated costs.  KuC charges a filing fee for the process of awarding course credit.

· KuC will request free use of space for the course.

· The adjunct will be asked to assist with the advertising, registration, and book process.

· Registration must be conducted and payment received at KuC before course begins.

· At the end of the course final grades and course assessments are to be submitted at the time requested.
